Pianist/Composer/Arranger Ayako Higuchi was born in Fukuoka, Japan in April 1984.
Ayako started playing the classical piano at the age of 5, and started composing music at the age of 7.
After she graduated high school in Fukuoka, Japan and received World Scholarship from Berklee College of Music, Ayako entered Berklee in September 2003. She studied with JoAnne Brackeen, Tiger Okoshi, Greg Hopkins, Scott Free, Walter Beasley, Alain Mallet, Oscar Stagnaro and many many other great teachers. In March 2006, Ayako received Carla Bley Award from Berklee College of Music. In December 2006, Ayako graduated Berklee in Jazz Composition Major.
She moved to New York in May 2007, interned for Charles Mingus Bigband (directed by Mrs. Sue Mingus) and participated in BMI Jazz Composer Workshop directed by Jim McNeely (Vanguard Orchestra). She has also performed at various venues/occasions such as NBC’s The Today Show, Apollo Theater, The Carnegie Hall, Smalls Jazz Club, Thomas A. Dorsey Gospel Convention, Hartford Festival of Jazz, etc. She also goes to Japan every year and performs in several cities. She has been performing worldwide.
She is currently working as a composer/production assistant at the sonic branding company Audiobrain in NY, playing the keyboard and/or composing/arranging music for her own projects etc.

高校卒業後、ワールドスカラーシップを受け２００３年にボストンのBerklee College of Musicに入学、Joanne Brackeen, Tiger Okoshi, Greg Hopking, Walter Beasleyを始めとした素晴しい講師達に師事。在学中にはBerkleeよりCarla Bley Awardを授かり、２００６年にBerkleeをJazz Composition専攻で卒業。
その後NYへ移り、Charles Mingus Bigband (Directed by Mrs. Sue Mingus)へのインターン、BIMでのJazz Composer Workshop (directed by Jim McNeely-Vanguard Orchestra)を経て、現在は、Sonic Branding Company Audiobrainでの作曲の仕事、自身のバンド活動に加え、自身のプロジェクトにて演奏／作曲活動を展開している。
NBCテレビのToday Showや、アポロシアター、Carnegie Hall、Hartford Festival of Jazz、Smalls Jazz Club、ゴスペルコンベンションThomas Dorsey Convention 等での演奏経験もある。
